The Cotton Club featured the most renowned black entertainers of the Harlem Renaissance and many launched their careers in the popular cabaret. But no matter how famous or talented, the Cotton Club was a “whites-only” venue. Black performers did not mix with the club’s clientele; friends, family, and significant others of even the most legendary black entertainers were not permitted to attend their shows.
Echo’s of Harlem not only recreates the experience of a night at the Cotton Club, but recaptures what the era’s exclusionary restrictive culture took from black performers – dignity, artistic freedom, pride in one’s community, and love of self.
Guiding you through the Harlem Renaissance, Ballet Afrique has mastered an authentic experience of music, dance, and life in the Cotton Club for one night.

You’re attending the swanky Cotton Club and you should dress from the era. Formal men’s and lady’s attire inspired from the time period is a must. No – we don’t want you to put on a costume, rather this is your opportunity to make an impression with a roaring twenties flare! Ballet Afrique has thoughtfully selected the details to give you the most authentic Cotton Club experience.

Cell phone, what? iPad, who? Those gadgets were not around in the twenties! Sorry, these will not be allowed for use in the venue. However you’re in luck! A full telegram service will be available should you need to send a message to a friend, loved one, or even receive a message yourself.
